I recommend grass fed butter to everyone who cares to ask me for diet and nutritional advice and almost always I receive a confused look and get asked “won’t that make me fat”, “what about high cholesterol” and “I thought saturated fat was bad for you”. The answer to all those questions is, No!
Eating grass fed butter will not make you fat!
Grass fed butter is made up of short and medium chain fatty acids which the body uses for energy, body fat is made up of long chain fatty acids. So, no eating butter will not make you fat in fact it will keep you feeling fuller for longer.
You do not understand the Importance of cholesterol in your body!
Every cell in your body needs cholesterol. Cholesterol increases as you age to protect you against the effects of aging! Cholesterol is an antioxidant that protects you from free radical damage that can cause cancer and heart disease.
Saturated fat is not bad for you!
Saturated fat is a vital nutrient and not the villain that the media will have you believe. Our brains are made up of mainly saturated fat so if you want your mind to stay healthy and possibly stave off Alzheimer’s you want to include lots of good sources of saturated fat such as grass fed butter in your diet. Saturated fat will strengthen your cell walls, strong cell walls are vital to almost every function and organ in your body.
Consumption of grass fed butter is probably one of the best things you can do for your health. It will improve your heart health because of the vitamin K2 and other fat soluble vitamins that are in butter will help protect the heart against heart disease and arthrosclerosis as well as a bunch of other degenerative diseases such as osteoporosis. It is also full of butyrate which protects against mental illness and is an anti-inflammatory.
Finally I must stipulate that it has to be grass fed because grass fed butter has more omega 3’s, Beta-carotene, vitamin a, vitamin k, vitamin d and antioxidants.
